Marches.TV at the Hay Festival: Friday 29th May
If you have anything you would like us to report on email info@marches.tv or Twitter @MarchesTV. And send us your reviews, written or on video.
In today’s video update we talk to two businesses with shops on the Festival site. The Great English Outdoors is a Hay-based shop specialising in hand-made textiles, whilst Art Meets Matter is an ideas-based company that synthesises art with matter to create everyday objects out of artistic concepts.
On Thursday, a fabulous summer’s evening in Hay, there was no better place to be than at The Globe, sitting outside this old Methodist Chapel, sharing a jug of Mojito and chatting with Festival visitors from far and wide.
Yet there was better still to come. Appearing in a welcome return to Hay, the Afro-Celtic fusion band Baka Beyond truly rocked the old building as a packed audience danced with abandon to the infectious rhythms and sumptuous vocals.

You can watch some video of Baka’s live performance on the Watch Now or Our World Channel(scroll down to the bottom of the page).
As the final weekend of the festival looms large, one negative aspect of welcoming so many visitors was the multiple burglaries of Hay shops on Monday night. More than ten shops were broken into in an organised operation that saw a large amount of cash stolen. In an area of so little crime such incidents come as a shock to residents and businesses and serve as a reminder to us that we are lucky to normally live without worry, but perhaps we should not take our safety for granted either.
