The Calendar is produced by Howard Kirby, Photography Director of The International Journal of Meteorology (IJMet). Howard is an amateur photographer who lives in The Marches. He specialises in landscapes and weather and has built up experience naturally, using his knowledge of weather conditions and the local area to help provide the right ingredients for a good photo opportunity.
|
A typical photo session involves driving to, and walking up the local hills, often on impulse, to achieve a shot or series of shots especially when certain conditions are just right.
Howard says that the ultimate and most rewarding session for any photographer who takes a great interest in the weather is convective/storm photography which can, of course, involve an element of danger but this can be offset by a good sunset/sunrise and the more tranquil moments in the countryside that shallow fog/mist can bring.
Other photo sessions, which are planned more specifically, include trips to the mountains or lakes in Wales where a good walk can be combined with a photo session.
|
The 2010 Calendar is now available to preview and purchase, as are many other of Howard's photos, at his website Howard Kirby Photography. The Price is £6.50 which includes P&P. |
