A Farewell To Flossie Lane
Flossie Lane ran The Sun Inn, Leintwardine, one of five remaining parlour pubs in the UK, in much the same way for 74 years before her sad death on June 13th, 2009.
The Sun Inn is typical of the Marches, where the characters, places and ways of days gone by is preserved and protected in many places. There is no bar counter and customers sit on wooden benches in what is essentially Flossie's front room. Beer at £2 a pint is served from barrels on the kitchen floor and there are no spirits for sale at all.
CAMRA refers to the Sun Inn as "a pub of outstanding national interest", it is listed by English Heritage for its historical interest, and is the only pub with five stars in the Classic Basic Unspoilt Pubs of Great Britain.

| There is an excellent obituary in The Telegraph that gives more detail on Flossie's life and the role of the Sun Inn in Leintwardine village life. RIP Flossie |
